This screening assessment involves assessment of up to 3 key functional areas indicated on the OT referral form.

The assessment consists of an initial telephone consultation with parent/carer and a 1 hour face to face to assessment with the child. After the assessment, a written summary of recommendations will be provided.

An Occupational Therapy full assessment is used to assess a child's fine motor/gross motor skills, visual perceptual skills, sensory processing and self-care skills. It usually consists of clinical observations and a combination of standardised and non standardised assessment tools.

The assessment involves an initial telephone consultation with parent/carer and a 1.5 to 2 hour face to face assessment with the child. This may include observation of your child at home/school and discussion with school staff.

Following assessment, a comprehensive written report will be provided with recommendations to help your child.

An Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is a legal document outlining the support a child or young person with special education needs requires to achieve specific outcomes in education, health and care. 

 

We provide assessment to support with an EHCP application. The assessment is the same as a 'Full Occupational Therapy' assessment, however the report will be written in a format suitable for an EHCP including recommendations for any future OT provision required.

Following initial assessment, 1:1 therapy sessions with your child can be carried out dependent on their needs. Sessions are goal focussed and usually last between 45 to 60mins (including time for feedback).

Some of our children benefit from blocks of therapy (weekly or fortnightly). 

​

If your child already has an initial assessment report from another setting (NHS or Private) dated within 3months, we can begin therapy sessions straight away. If not, an initial assessment will need to be carried out first to identify your child's needs.

Handwriting is a complex skill involving gross and fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, cognition and sensory processing.​

​

This assessment will look at a number of underlying components such as muscle strength, coordination, pencil grasp and motor control to assess your child's handwriting difficulties. A combination of standardised and non standardised assessment tools are used. We use the DASH-2 assessment for children over the age of 8.

Following assessment, a written summary of recommendations is provided.

Our developmental sessions focus on enhancing both fine and gross motor skills through fun and engaging activities. Children will work on improving hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and precision through tasks like drawing, cutting and using small objects while also building core strength, postural stability, shoulder stability, balance and coordination with larger movements such as jumping and running. The session is designed to support overall motor development, helping children gain confidence and independence in everyday tasks.

Sessions last between 45mins to 1 hour and are charged at £25 per session.

Travel: 

Home and School visits over 5 miles away from the therapy practice (WD19) incur additional travel fees. This is charged at 45p per additional mile. Travel mileage is calculated via Waze.

Cancellation:

Appointments should be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance or will incur 50% of the session fee.
